The Adani Group, one of the biggest conglomerates, has decided to set up a cement factory in Godda, Jharkhand, based on a sustainable solution model. The company already operates a power plant project in Godda, Jharkhand. This will be another addition to the developments made by the Adani Group in Jharkhand. It will have a role to play in transforming the living conditions of people living in Jharkhand. The Adani Godda project will also be one of the benchmark projects for the Adani Group.
The model of the cement factory:
The model of the cement factory, which is about to be developed by the Adani Group, will be based entirely on sustainable solutions. Large quantities of fly ash will be mixed with limestone to make cement. This will help overcome all the sustainability challenges that companies have been facing with regard to the development of the cement factory. The approval to set up the factory was given after a conversation held between the Member of Parliament, Nishikant Dubey, and the Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani. This Adani Godda project is the 2nd project taken up by the Adani Group after the Godda power plant.
How does the Adani Group aim to achieve sustainability by setting up a cement factory in Jharkhand?
Dubey had earlier raised concern over the amount of fly ash generated during power generation at the power plant. He had announced that approval had been given from his end to establish the cement factory and the power plant. That way, the fly ash generated from the power plant can be easily utilised for cement production. This will not only lead to economic growth but also allow the generated waste to be managed highly efficiently. This will be a win-win situation for the people of Jharkhand, and they will also not have to suffer from problems relating to excessive fly ash in the atmosphere.
The power plant at Godda, Jharkhand:
The Jharkhand supercritical power project has two units of 800 MW each. The power plant achieved commercial operations on 25th June after completing various reliability run tests. The power generated from the supercritical plant will be transferred directly to Bangladesh through the dedicated 400 kV transmission line. It is going to have a net capacity of 1,496 MW. Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL) has signed a 25-year contract with Bangladesh Power Development Board to make this power supply possible.
The construction of the Godda power plant encountered several challenges, mainly during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the operations of the project continued without any failure. Because of the relentless struggles, the Adani Group has been able to develop its first state-of-the-art ultra-critical technology project for power supply to the regions of Bangladesh. The power plant will be producing minimum emissions. It also complies with the futuristic laws announced by the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change.
How will the Adani projects trigger industrial activities in Jharkhand?
The new Adani Godda power plant, constructed in Jharkhand, has a total capacity of 1,600 MW. It is based on supercritical technologies. Because of the power plant that has already been set up and the cement plant which is about to be constructed, Jharkhand is very soon going to become a huge industrial centre. Various industrial activities can be conducted in Jharkhand seamlessly. This is going to drive a lot of companies towards opening up industries in Jharkhand. Direct and indirect job opportunities will open up for a lot of people.
Jharkhand already has coal reserves of 83,151 million tonnes. It also accounts for around 20 to 25% of total steel production in India. 12,48,000 tons of limestone were also produced during 2018-2019, totalling INR 42.91 crore. Because of its extraordinary reserves, setting up industries in the Jharkhand region will be profitable. Companies will be able to conduct their business activities without any hassle. This will lead to the overall development of areas in and around Jharkhand. It will also ensure that the people can lead their lives better.
Conclusion:
With the projects being taken up at Jharkhand, the Adani Group has brought about extensive developments in the region. The power plant has also benefited the people of Bangladesh. With time, the Adani Group plans on taking up more such projects in Jharkhand. This will bring about a complete transformation in Jharkhand, and the business profitability of the Adani Group will also increase rapidly.
