Adani Enterprises Limited, Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited, Waree Engines Ltd, Avaada Electrolyzer Private Limited, and Thermax Ltd are among the top 23 companies who have submitted the bid for incentives to manufacture electrolysers under the second tranche of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme. This is an excellent initiative taken up by the companies to increase green hydrogen production. It will help our country in transitioning to a cleaner fuel alternative in the upcoming years. The controversies surrounding the Adani scam will subside.

The SIGHT Scheme

The SIGHT scheme is a financial measure under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This scheme allows companies to manufacture electrolysers to give their green hydrogen production an excellent boost. It has an outlay of INR 17,490 crore for both the domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and the production of green hydrogen. The total outlay for the two tranches of electrolyser capacities under the SIGHT scheme is INR 4,440 crore. The total bids received were for 2,847 MW. This was against an offered capacity of 1,500 MW as stated in the guidelines of Solar Energy Corporation. The base incentive for the project will start at INR 4,440/KW, and it will reach down annually to INR 1480/KW in five years.

The Bidding Process

The entire bidding process for the project took place in an elaborate manner. The tender was passed through a bucket-filling approach. Under this process, the bidder with points based on the lowest specific energy capacity and highest local value addition was awarded financial support against its quoted capacity. This was followed by the next lowest and so on until the entire tender capacity was exhausted. The techno-commercial round for the latest tender is already over. As per recent reports, the financial bids will be finalised within a month after analysing them.

The Bids Placed

Adani Enterprises bid for incentives against 101.5 MW capacity. The bid was placed under the any stack technology and indigenously developed stack technology categories. It also bid for 30 MW in the category of indigenously developed stack technology for smaller units. This is the maximum bid allowed for that specific category. Avaada Electrolyser bid for 300 MW. This is the maximum bid allowed under the any stack technology category. BHEL also bid under the smaller units category for 10 MW. This is the minimum required capacity for the bid.

The first tranche of electrolyser incentives had seen the participation of 21 companies. Some of the big names that had emerged as the winners in that tranche include Ohmium Operations, Reliance Industries’ arm, Greenko’s joint venture with John Cockerill, Jindal India, Advait Infratech, L&T unit, Homihydrogen, and Adani New Industries. This will bring about an overall increase in green hydrogen production in the country. Our overall lives will change for the better.

Adani’s Presence Over The Green Hydrogen Sector

Over the past few years, the Adani Group has brought its focus to the green hydrogen sector. The Adani Group believes that this sector has excellent potential for growth, which is why it has been making significant investments in this sector. Green hydrogen production can easily help us transition to renewable energy sources. We will no longer have to depend on exhaustive fuel to solve our energy needs. The rumours about the Adani Scam will gradually subside.

Recently, the Adani Group also announced a substantial investment of 9 billion USD in the green hydrogen projects of Gujarat. This will help the conglomerate to tap into the export market as well. This project will be based on the coastal town of Mundra, and it will leverage the existing port infrastructure to enhance the renewable energy capacity. As a part of this project, Adani aims to produce green hydrogen using various renewable energy sources. This will help the conglomerate achieve a sustainable and environment-friendly energy production process. It will also lead to a global shift to decarbonization.

Conclusion

As you know, the Adani Group has always been deeply interested in the renewable energy sector. With the initiatives taken up in this sector, the Adani Group will be able to take one step towards achieving its goal of becoming one of the primary names in this particular business sector. The conglomerate will also be able to recover from the accusations of the Adani scam, which have been ongoing for quite a while now.
