Introduction
Har ki dun or the valley of the God gives immense peace not only with its name but from the visit too.
People from all over India pay their visits to break their momentum from the city life and give themselves a new freshness for the coming life.
The following considerations should be considered if you plan to visit Har ki Dun.
BEST TIME TO VISIT HAR KI DUN:-
The period between April to Mid-June and October to Mid-November is best to visit this place.
From January to Mid of March, it remains closed by the government. due to heavy snowfall. The period between July to September is not suitable due to Monsoon. However, people still visit this place to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and meadows in heavy showers.
ITINERARY:-
Before a move to this place, one should be aware of the complete schedule of Har ki dun:-
? Dehradun- Sankri
? Sankri- Osla
? Osla- Har ki Dun
? Har ki Dun- Glacier
? Har ki Dun- Sankri
It is a maximum 7-8 day visit and the necessary base camps are already there by the Wildlife sanctuary department and various guide companies to host their guests.
DEHRADUN-SANKRI:-
Dehradun to Sankri can be traveled via road with the help of a taxi or cab. Various guest houses are here for your easy stay.
The people here are so innocent and sweet and they are so hardworking. They are usually called Himalayan people.
SANKRI-TALUKA:-
After Sankri, the next stop is Taluka. Again a beautiful place having beautiful people and scenic beauty around.
TALUKA-GANGAD:-
From Taluka the next stop is Osla. But many times people stay in Ganga too. Gangad is usually a wooden village as most of the houses are made up of wood with old chulha in it to cook the food traditionally.
The interesting story of this village is that they hardly take part in elections as this village is devoid of electricity and roads. They are adamant on this issue that first their demands should be fulfilled if the politicians need their votes. They are such a real figure of political dissent in a democracy. Hats off to them!
OSLA-HAR KI DUN:-
From Gangad the Osla is close to the way. Har ki Dun is just 12 km away. People take a rest here for some time and some even try to learn about food in a traditional way, especially in chulha. The dream of coming back to 1000 years old is proven a reality here.
From Osla the next camp is Har ki Dun which the visitor is waiting for and from here the journey to paradise starts in the next few days.
HAR KI DUN-JAUNDHAR GLACIER:-
The next stop from Har ki Dun is the Jaundhar glacier. The Ruinsara Taal is not far away from here and thus many people visit there too.
?Many people rest at the base of Jaundhar glacier to enjoy the mountainous night at this place and from here the next day they will be going back to the Osla to go back home.
Surely, this visit is excited one and full of adventure but necessary precautions should be taken before and after arriving at your traveling destination:-
? Take woolen clothes with you if the guider says so and stay tuned to them
? Check the weather forecast before leaving. Also, prepare yourself for the unpredictable weather conditions too.
? As the hilly areas are full of adventure, one should not forget to take water bottles while trekking.
? Stay fully hydrated and take some fruits or food items with yourself as per your need.
? Take as many clothes as one wants. Otherwise, your whole trip will be ruined by pushing the heavy luggage here and there.
? Take necessary items like power bank, charger, trekking suit, ID card, etc. to get rid of any inconvenience.
? Make sure you have enough money as the network problem is so slow that one can hardly go for online payments. Even though they are still not updating themselves with digital media.
? Take medicines in case of any problem to you and your dear ones. There are medical arrangements by the authority but still, one should be taken care of.
? If you are a solo trekker, you can take the help of people around too. They are so genuine and honest that they always believe in the ?Atithi Devo bhava’ model of India.
So have a safe and happy journey with lifelong and lasting impressions of Har Ki Dun.
